During an appearance Friday at the Talk Radio News Service/Support Popular Vote.com Radio Row, conservative commentator Dick Morris said that he would absolutely support moving away from the electoral college.

“It’s really not a question,” Morris said. “We’re a democracy. The majority of the people should determine who the President is.”

Morris added that the electoral college began as a “gimmick to preserve slavery.”

“The south didn’t have the population and the north did, so they made sure in the Senate they would have an equal vote.”
